Immunofluorescence patterns

IMAGE BANKIMMUNOFLUORESCENCE PATTERNSVarious IF patterns can be asked in exams.hereby attaching the same1.Best test to detect ANA is by INDIRECT IMMUNOFLUORESCENCE METHOD.It uses Hep2 cells2.For detection of P ANCA and C ANCA only ELISA is necessary. No need of ANA profilesImage 2Detection of antibodies against dsDNA. Indication: systemic lupus erythematosus Initial dilution: 1:10, conjugate class anti-human IgG, FITC-labelled. Animal-pathogenic haemoflagellates of Crithidia luciliae are used for the detection of autoantibodies against double-stranded, native DNA (dsDNA, nDNA) with indirect immunofluorescence. These protozoa possess a giant mitochondrion containing dsDNA (kinetoplast) that, in general, does not show any of the other antigens present in the cell nuclei. Antibodies reacting with the kinetoplast are therefore only directed against dsDNAImage 3 ANCA patternsKindly try the AIIMS AND JIPMER test series for similar questions

PGI DM RHEUMATOLOGY ENTRANCE PREPARATION

Hi allFew of you were had requested for preparation strategy for Pgimer exams. We are sharing our interaction of past and present residents of  Rheumatology dept PGIMER. Most of them were of the opinion that Part 1 only decides your rank. A score of 28 - 30 in part 1 will keep in safe zone.It usually needs minimum 6 months of preparation for PGI.There will be no repeat questions as such in Pgi.knowing the subject thoroughly is important. However there are some set of topics which usually get repeated. Also you are advised to read nejm journal last 6 month topics in medicine.Example there was a question at pgi which asked the difference between Cushing's syndrome and obesity which was orignal article in nejm(last 6 months) Medicine topicsone question on critical care like ventilator settings ,survival sepsis guidelines. scoring systems like qsofa,Apache,Richmond scores. New hypertension guidelines salt restriction amount ex 4 gm /day 2 questions from Rheumatology 1 question on fluid and electrolytes 1-2 question on statistics 1 question on RS topics like NSIP,UIP, aspergillosis 1 question on antibiotics..sensitivity patternEx one question was sensitivity pattern of a particular orgainsim Stenotrophomonas maltophilia.this organism is Greek and Latin to many of us but it is a common culture growth at PGI,not to dishearten anyone. 1 question on scrub typhus or VAP 1 question on ACLS/BLS guidelines 1 question on RAS physiology, hypoxia These are just a jist.they may not repeat exact question  always but you can expect the same topics usually Part 2 paper It's mainly Kelly table based questions.Do attempt only answers you are sure. There will be usually 200(40*5) options in total.minimum 110-120 options will be right. Also it's wise to know EULAR /ACR recent remmondations.ex. SLE 2019 criteria,BSR guidelines for drugs in pregnancy,Management of SLE/VASCULITIS 2018 criteria.Other topics Tropical rheumatology- poncets arthritis, pyomyositis PGI is centre of excellence for HIV(Rheumatology is a wing of Medicine at PGI and one of the Rheumatology staff heads HIV centre of excellence) and hence 2-3 questions on HIV is inevitable.Mode of action, newer programmes in TB/HIV will give you extra edge. Also some statistical knowledge-will help u fetch one question Also PGI faculty has written a textbook of vasculitis.Kindly read some important topics.areas of interest -DADA2  vasculitis,Takayasu arteritis,GCA arteritis,Relapsing polychondritis Another PGI faculty has mainly publications in Systemic sclerosis.Read about the same thoroughly Disease activity measures is given special importance in PGIex health associated questionnaireBASFI,BASDAI.

AIIMS DM RHEUMATOLOGY ENTRANCE PREPARATION

Hello aspirants,It was indeed a moment of sudden surprise and Pride when AIIMS Rishikesh got DM seats approved ahead of AIIMS Delhi.Everyone has ambiguity about pattern of exams. It also depends on who sets the paper;whether AIIMS Delhi Rheumatology chief or bhuvaneshwar chief. Our interview with those who wrote AIIMS Senior residency  in  Rheumatology revealed that paper would be mix of Kelly Rheumatology and Harrison rheumatology ie AIIMS SR entrance.Hopefully we can extrapolate the same for DM entrance. It would be nice if you discuss with any AIIMS SRs in Rheumatology. We are working on A test series with equal importance to Harrison and Kelly, also some recent updates, recommendations, image bank and some important trials. We would not be able to give you the explainations of the answers this time but shall definitely by next session, nevertheless we will try to be authentic in our efforts. Our AIIMS mock test series shall soon be active.Until then first things first.Be thorough with Harrison.then start Kelly tables mainly SLE,APLA,VASCULITIS,GOUT. usually Immunology will take a back seat in AIIMS and PGI unlike JIPMER. Try to see the publications by AIIMS Rheumatology faculty if you get time. Last but not the least research methods are given special importance in any central exams.please have a look at basic statistics               BEST WISHESRheumatology mentor team
